ROGER SWAIN, “THE
MAN WITH THE RED SUSPENDERS” TROY, NY -- Roger Swain, “the man with the red suspenders,” and longtime host of PBS TV’s, The Victory Garden, will be the featured speaker at this year’s Capital District Garden and Flower Show, held March 18-20 at Hudson Valley Community College. Mr. Swain’s presentation will be on Sunday March 20. At 11:00am his topic will be Finding the Perfect Tool and at 3:00pm it will be Beginning the Garden Year. Born and raised near Boston, Swain is a Harvard graduate, a Ph.D. and the editor of Horticulture magazine. He is the author of five books on horticulture and in addition to The Victory Garden, he also co-hosts People, Places and Plants, a television show syndicated throughout the country. His awards include the American Horticulture Society Award for Writing and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society Gold Medal. He lives in Southern New Hampshire. The 18th Annual Capital District Garden and Flower Show will be held March 18-20 at the 60,000 square-foot McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. Tickets for the show are $10 at the door, children 12-16 are $4, and all children under age 12 are admitted free. Discounted advance sale tickets are available at all Price Chopper stores for $8.00 starting February 20. Parking for the three day event is free.
